Daltonganj, September 29: An unregistered and unauthorised private nursing home, Priya Nursing Home, was sealed at Dangwar under the Hussainabad subdivision of Palamu on Monday during a raid by a team of health officials in the presence of police, officials said.
The action followed directions from Palamu Deputy Commissioner Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat to identify and take action against unregistered and unauthorised private nursing homes operating across the district.
Nursing home allegedly running without registration
Priya Nursing Home director Kundan Kumar Yadav allegedly fled the premises during the raid and sealing operation, sources said.
The facility displayed the names of Dr A.S. Imam, Patna, Bihar, and Dr B. Dubey, BAMS, on its board. However, according to Deputy Superintendent of Hussainabad Sub-Divisional Hospital Dr Shashi Bhushan, neither doctor was present during the inspection.
Confirming the action, Dr Bhushan said the facility had been operating for more than a year without registration under the Jharkhand Clinical Establishment Act.

Claims of medical facilities questioned
The nursing home had advertised facilities including normal delivery, nebulisation, hernia repair, minor surgery, Doppler tests and appendectomy.
However, officials said the inspection did not establish the availability of such services at the premises. Dr Bhushan described the claims displayed on the publicity board as misleading promotional material.
He also pointed out that commercial solicitation of patients is prohibited under the Jharkhand Clinical Establishment Act and referred to guidelines of the National Medical Commission concerning commercial advertising by doctors.
No doctor, staff or patients found
During the raid, officials reportedly found only basic medical supplies and equipment, including injection vials, syringes, intravenous fluid pouches, an electronic blood-pressure monitor and a glucometer.
Dr Bhushan said there were no patients, nursing staff, doctors or the director present at the facility when the inspection team arrived.
Officials had reportedly prepared to shift any admitted patients to the government sub-divisional hospital at Hussainabad if necessary. However, no indoor patient was found at the facility.
Facility had only one room and corridor
Sources in the inspection team said the nursing home had extremely limited infrastructure, comprising essentially one room and a corridor.
The sealing is part of the district administration’s broader effort to check the operation of unregistered private healthcare facilities in Palamu.
Officials said action against such establishments is intended to prevent patients from being exposed to unauthorised medical services and misleading claims about healthcare facilities.
