Jamshedpur, October 8: The JRD Sports Complex is set to host its first-ever inter-college tournament on October 10 and 11, bringing together young sporting talent from seven leading educational institutions across Jamshedpur.
The two-day tournament will feature participation from Karim City College, Netaji Subhas University, Arka Jain University, Al Kabir Polytechnic, XLRI Jamshedpur, NIT Jamshedpur and RVS.
Students will compete in six disciplines — athletics, badminton, table tennis, basketball, futsal and volleyball — across both boys’ and girls’ categories.
The inaugural edition aims to promote sporting excellence, teamwork and healthy competition among college students while providing them with a platform to showcase their skills and compete at a high level.
The tournament will open with an inaugural ceremony on October 10, followed by sporting events throughout the day. The second day will conclude with a prize distribution ceremony to honour winners and outstanding performers.
Cultural Extravaganza on October 11
Adding a cultural dimension to the sporting event, October 11 will feature a special Cultural Extravaganza from 4 pm to 6.30 pm, featuring live music and a range of cultural activities.
The organisers expect the programme to add to the festive atmosphere and attract students, families and sports enthusiasts.
Event Open to Public
The tournament is open to the public, with residents of Jamshedpur, students, families and sports lovers invited to witness the competitions and cheer for the participating teams.
Spectators can attend the tournament from 9 am to 5 pm on October 10 and 9 am to 8 pm on October 11. The live music and cultural programme will be held from 4 pm to 6.30 pm on October 11.
The first edition of the inter-college tournament is expected to provide a vibrant platform for young athletes while strengthening the culture of sports and healthy competition among educational institutions in Jamshedpur.
