Participants discussed adapting curricula to evolving industry requirements, expanding internship opportunities, introducing hands-on training and familiarising students with AI-based technologies.

The discussions also underscored the importance of responsible AI adoption, particularly in safeguarding academic integrity and data privacy, ensuring information reliability and promoting the ethical use of emerging technologies.

The proposed roadmap is expected to provide a framework for integrating AI into teaching, research, institutional administration and skill development across universities and colleges in Jharkhand.

Nayna’s participation reflected Sona Devi University’s emphasis on combining academic learning with practical skills and industry-oriented education. The initiative aims to prepare students for emerging career opportunities while fostering innovation and lifelong learning.

University leadership stresses responsible AI adoption

Prof. Dr Braj Mohan Pat Pingua, Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University, said AI had considerable potential to make education more effective, inclusive and future-ready.

He emphasised that universities must go beyond awarding degrees and focus on developing students’ knowledge, creativity, professional competence and independent thinking.

He added that technology should strengthen human capabilities rather than replace critical judgement. He said closer collaboration between educational institutions and industry would help students gain practical experience and prepare for changing employment requirements.

Prabhakar Singh, Chancellor of Sona Devi University, described the initiative as an important step towards modernising higher education. He stressed the need to integrate technology, skill development and practical training into academic programmes.

Singh said AI could create new opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship, research and innovation, provided it was used responsibly and in accordance with ethical and human values.

Sona Devi University reaffirmed its commitment to quality education, technological innovation, industry collaboration and the holistic development of students.

The university’s participation in the consultation reflects its focus on preparing young people in Jharkhand to navigate the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly AI-driven world.
