The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and various institutions of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-National Seed Corporation, Birsa Agricultural University, IFFCO, National Horticulture Board, ATARI (Patna), Krishi Vigyan Kendras, NAFED, NABARD- organised the event together, in which thousands of farmers participated.

Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan

On this occasion, Governor Radhakrishnan said that former Prime Minister late Lal Bahadur Shastri had given the slogan of Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan, which is proving meaningful due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“We had requested the Prime Minister for many facilities, including a railway electric line for Jharkhand, which has been completed. Today, the post of President is adorned by a tribal woman – Draupadi Murmu. Similarly, the Prime Minister has given charge of important ministries like tribal affairs and agriculture and farmer welfare to tribal leader Arjun Munda,” he pointed out.

Central schemes

“While observing the stalls, I realised a significant change in the country’s agriculture sector; agriculture is being promoted by bringing revolutionary changes through central schemes. Farmers play an essential role in shaping the country’s future; they are the backbone of our economy,” the governor said.

“In this context, such gatherings in the interest of farmers are highly commendable. The Prime Minister is fully committed to increasing farmers’ income,” he said.

Union Minister Munda said that the Government of India is working in a planned manner under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to develop villages, towns and cities.

“The prime minister has pledged to make the country developed by 2047, which we all have to accomplish together,” Munda said and urged the farmers not to keep their fields empty by growing just one crop, but to contribute to the development of the country by increasing their income by adopting multi-cropping system.

“The Centre has provided the facility to test the soil of the fields; the department will fully cooperate with the farmers to take advantage of it,” he pointed out.

Jharkhand martyrs

Paying tribute to the brave martyrs of the soil of Jharkhand, he said that proper tribute will be paid to them only when we make our fields green. For this, many schemes have been started under the prime minister’s leadership,” Munda said.

The agriculture minister said using drones and nano urea for farming is also important. He added that Matri Shakti is continuously working to develop the villages through self-help groups, including thousands of PM Drone Didi,” he said.

Munda said that the farmer-friendly Modi government has always prioritised the agriculture sector. “In this sequence, the budget of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has been increased by almost five and a quarter in the current year compared to about Rs 22 thousand crore in 2013-14,” he said.

Crop Insurance Scheme

Besides, to provide the benefits of Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme to the farmers of Jharkhand, the officials have been asked to discuss with the state government and get the state included in the scheme. Shri

Munda said that the efforts of the Centre are in full swing to promote Shri Anna in the interest of farmers.

The Governor and the Union Minister honoured the progressive farmers on this occasion. More than 150 stalls were set up, where many farmers got information and benefited.

The Centre’s schemes for farmers were publicized through short films. IFFCO distributed nano urea kits, and HIL distributed safety kits and plants to the farmers.
