Jamshedpur, Jan 13: In a heartwarming display of compassion and empathy, Std X students of Loyola School recently embarked on a social outreach programme, visiting three institutions as part of their community engagement initiative.

FURIDA (N.G.O.), Gerua

Students spent quality time at the FURIDA old age home, engaging in heartfelt conversations with elderly residents. The experience proved enlightening, fostering a deeper appreciation for the wisdom and life experiences of the elderly.

Cheshire Home, Sunder Nagar

The second group visited Cheshire Home, where they overcame initial inhibitions to connect with fifty mentally challenged inmates. The students’ singing and dancing created a moving experience, leaving many misty-eyed and highlighting the power of human connection.

Tarumitra visit to Jesu Bhawan, Mango

In a parallel educational endeavour, the students of class 8 explored environmental awareness during a visit to Jesu Bhawan.

Students learned about the Tarumitra movement, initiated by students aiming to promote environmental conservation. Presentations by Srishti Sahi, Aditi, and Ayindri Maurya delved into the history of Tarumitra and the crucial topic of wildlife conservation.

Engaging in the Chipko Andolan tradition, students hugged trees, connecting with the environmental advocacy pioneered by Amrita Devi from the Bishnoi community.

A quiz on environmental awareness, hosted by Akansh Verma and Sutirth Upadhyay, concluded the informative visit, reinforcing the students’ commitment to environmental stewardship.

Both initiatives showcase the school’s dedication to instilling empathy, social responsibility, and environmental consciousness in its students.
