Daltonganj, January 17: Nilamber Pitamber University today held its 15th foundation day. The gathering was modest but it would have been far more enthusiastic had there been more and more students here today. There were retired teachers and elites of the town as well. Discipline was all-pervasive.

Academic advisor to governor cum chancellor of the state universities Dr E Balagurusamy who was the chief guest said, “India has voluminous population of youths but usable youths are less. Youths have to be usable.”

He asked students to go for promoting creativity and innovation as simply learning by rot will not take them anywhere.

Criticising his own home state Tamil Nadu from where he comes, Balagurusamy said this state of him is neck deep in corruption. India tops in corruption. This is sad and worrisome, he added.

“Corruption will stall socio economic development and if India is to be a well developed country by 2047 then everyone should be up and doing honestly and ethically,” he added.

OSD university Dr Sanjeev Rai who was the distinguished guest today spoke in Hindi and even referred to a Hindi film Yahan Se Shahar ko Dekho featuring Vijayendra Ghatge and asked students to see the university not just a concrete building but a window to the world.

Rai said the fee for the PhD entrance fee would now be a reduced in all the state universities to have a uniformity to fee following order of the governor.

Another distinguished guest M Tandon, former additional advocate general urged the officials to set up a government law college here as there is just one affiliated law college under this university.

Acting VC of NPU Dr Tapan Kumar Shandilya gave a blend of speech in English and Hindi and enthused the students to do good for themselves and for the country.

A man of economics Shandilya, his literary taste for renowned Hindi poet Dinkar was most manifest here today when he with ease and finesse recited line after line of Dinkar all to pump the students to make the NEP (new education policy) 2020 a reality and game-changing for the country.
