Nitish Kumar sworn in as Bihar CM for ninth time

Patna, Jan 28: After cutting connections with ‘Mahagathbandhan’, Janata Dal-United president Nitish Kumar took the oath of office as Bihar Chief Minister for the ninth time on Sunday at Raj Bhavan.

At the Raj Bhavan in Patna, Governor Rajendra Arlekar administered him the oath of office.

In addition, Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Chaudhary took the oath of office as deputy chief ministers.

Following several days of conjecture, JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar announced his resignation as the Chief Minister of Bihar on Sunday, marking his second defection in less than 18 months. Ending his alliance with the RJD and Congress, Nitish Kumar has established a new government with the backing of the BJP.

Nitish Kumar affirms permanence in NDA alliance

After the dissolution of the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ and his ninth oath of office as Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar declared on Sunday that his coalition with the NDA will last forever and that there was no longer any consideration of going elsewhere.

“I was with them (NDA) earlier too. We went on different paths, but now we are together and will remain so. Today, eight people have taken oath as ministers, the rest will take oath soon. Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha have been appointed as Deputy Chief Ministers,” he said.

The chief minister of Bihar stated that his party would strive for the advancement and development of the state in response to a question concerning RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav’s claim that “JDU will be finished in 2024”.

“We work for the development and progress of Bihar. We will keep doing the same, nothing else. Tejashwi was not doing anything. Now I came back to where I was (NDA) and now there is no question of going anywhere else,” Nitish Kumar stated.
