Daltonganj, Jan 29: The Chhipadohar railway station under the Dhanbad division of the East Central Railway has a peculiar caution to its passengers.

It is ‘Beware of the bees’. A caution notice is there. It is in bold Hindi.

There are two big peepal trees there right on the platform here at this railway station where there are around two dozen beehives.

A railway official of Chhipadohar railway station said, “We find ourselves helpless. These bees have their permanent abode of the peepal trees.”

Trees belong to PTR

As the trees are peepal and hold immense religious sentiments, no harm can come to these trees, said the railway official.

Again, the entire Chhipadohar railway station falls under the core area of the Palamu Tiger Reserve (PTR), trees are the property of the tiger reserve.

The Chhipadohar railway station officials can’t do much except asking passengers to be careful of the bees.

Attacks only humans

Smoke is strictly prohibited here as smoke irritates bees like anything and bees begin to bite humans in sheer.

There is no incident of bees attacking animals. It’s only humans that are bitten by the bees.

DS Srivastav, a well-known wildlife conservationist, said, “Bees are now modernized. They live on the platform. Peepal trees come handy for them.”
