Jamshedpur, Jan 3: Advocate Sunil Kumar Guliar, a distinguished author and cultural historian, was honored on Friday for his remarkable contribution to documenting the historical and cultural heritage of Jharkhand.
His book, titled ‘Vrihad Chotanagpur ke Adi-Buniad’, was celebrated by senior members of the District Bar Association and other notable figures.
The felicitation ceremony took place at the District Bar Association, where senior advocates, including former public prosecutor PN Gop, former joint secretary Malkeet Singh Saini, former convening secretary Mohammad Qasim, and senior advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu, honored Sunil Guliar by adorning him with a Basanti Chola.
Call for Integration into Education Curriculum
“After five years of rigorous research and a complex writing process, Advocate Sunil Guliar has produced a work that stands as an exemplary piece of scholarship,” said PN Gop, emphasizing the book’s reliance on scientific facts.
Advocate Sudhir Kumar Pappu urged the Jharkhand government to integrate ‘Vrihad Chotanagpur ke Adi-Buniad’ into the higher education curriculum. “This book is a vital resource for intellectuals, social workers, researchers, and future generations, shedding light on Jharkhand’s civilization, culture, and progress,” he remarked.

Guliar’s Tribute to Chotanagpur’s Resilience
The book, a culmination of five years of tireless effort, explores the development of the Greater Chotanagpur Agricultural Civilization with a focus on the early contributions of totemic Kudmi communities. Author Sunil Guliar delves into various aspects of Jharkhand’s history and culture.
The book also highlights the progressive development of Jharkhand’s indigenous communities and their enduring cultural heritage.
Reflecting on his work, Sunil Guliar expressed his hope that the book would serve as a resource to deepen understanding and appreciation of Jharkhand’s rich history. “This book is my tribute to the resilience and ingenuity of the people of Chotanagpur,” he stated, underscoring his commitment to preserving and promoting the region’s cultural legacy.
The event was graced by several prominent advocates, including Bar Association treasurer JP Bhagat, NK Mishra, Dina Prasad, Mohnish Pandey, Kulwinder Singh, Shrikant Singh, and Rahul Rai, among others. Their presence underscored the significance of the occasion and the widespread appreciation for Guliar’s scholarly contribution.
