THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK
Ranchi, June 20: Sujay Chakravarty, Chief Executive Officer for Bihar and Jharkhand at Bharti Airtel, paid a courtesy visit to Anurag Gupta, Director General of Police, Jharkhand. The two leaders engaged in detailed discussions on the growing threat of online fraud and explored avenues for collaboration to bolster the state’s digital security framework.
Airtel’s AI-powered Shield Secures 61 Lakh Users
During the meeting, Chakravarty shared updates on Airtel’s nationwide rollout of its advanced, AI-enabled fraud detection system, which is now actively protecting over 61 lakh users in Jharkhand—achieved within just 37 days of launch.
The innovative system, automatically activated for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers, uses real-time threat intelligence to analyse over 1 billion URLs per day. It scans and filters suspicious links sent via SMS, WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, email, and web browsers—blocking malicious sites within 100 milliseconds.

“Airtel is committed to safeguarding its customers from digital threats. Our AI-powered solution operates seamlessly in the background, securing every platform in real time,” said Chakravarty.
“With this initiative, we aim to empower users in Jharkhand to engage confidently with digital services, knowing their safety is our top priority.”

Instant Detection, Real-Time Protection
Explaining the system’s capabilities, Chakravarty cited a typical phishing scenario: a user in Ranchi receives a message stating, “Your parcel has been delayed. Track it here,” followed by a deceptive link. Once the user clicks, Airtel’s system immediately scans the link. If deemed malicious, it blocks access and displays a warning in the user’s preferred language, alerting them to potential fraud.
This rapid response system is already proving instrumental in preventing financial scams and protecting user data across the region.
DGP Commends Airtel’s Initiative
Anurag Gupta, Director General of Police, appreciated Airtel’s proactive role in digital security and acknowledged the contributions of Sujay Chakravarty, Sandeep Sahay (Nodal Security), and Ankur Chopra (Marketing Manager).
The police chief expressed keen interest in exploring further collaboration between state law enforcement and the telecom sector to tackle evolving cyber threats.
