All-party meet backs Govt as Rajnath Singh says 100 terrorists killed in Op Sindoor

New Delhi, May 8: An all-party meeting convened by the Modi government took place on Thursday to brief political leaders about the success of Operation Sindoor and its aftermath.

During the meeting, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared that Operation Sindoor had resulted in the elimination of at least 100 terrorists, as per PTI sources. He also made it clear that India would retaliate if Pakistan launched any strikes in response.

The government also stated that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing, making it difficult to provide an exact count.

According to sources, the government mentioned that India will not take any action unless Pakistan provokes with aggressive actions.

The meeting included key government representatives such as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Prominent opposition leaders present included Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress’ Sandip Bandyopadhyay, DMK’s T.R. Baalu, Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gopal Yadav, AAP’s Sanjay Singh, Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut, NCP’s Supriya Sule, BJD’s Sasmit Patra, CPI(M)’s John Brittas, JD(U)’s Sanjay Jha, LJP’s Chirag Paswan, and AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi.

Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition, expressed full support for the government, stating, “As Mallikarjun Kharge Ji mentioned, the government has said there are some matters we will not discuss… but everyone has supported the operation.”

Meanwhile, Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress National President, reaffirmed the party’s stance, saying, “We have all expressed that we stand with the government at this moment. We encourage them to continue their work, and we will remain with them for the national interest.”

In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor at midnight on Wednesday, targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) with 24 missiles. The operation successfully destroyed key strongholds of terrorist groups, including Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad.
