New Delhi, Oct 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, a strong India is advancing towards ensuring both secure borders and the rule of law. He was speaking in Delhi at a conference organized by the CBI on the topic “Extradition of Fugitives: Challenges and Strategies.”
He emphasized that India is ensuring a combination of global operations, robust coordination, and smart diplomacy. Amit Shah highlighted the need to strengthen international cooperation so that criminals who have fled from India can be brought to justice.

Shah made it clear that no matter how fast a criminal moves, the reach of justice must be even faster. Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has already progressed in securing its borders while strengthening the rule of law.

He added that the time has come to adopt a ruthless approach against economic offenders, cybercriminals, terrorists, and all those involved in organized crime networks who have fled abroad.
At the conference, CBI Director Praveen Sood informed that 35 fugitives have already been brought back to India by 2025.
The Home Minister also referred to the India Fugitive Act and three new laws, which include provisions for trial in absentia. This will enable India to present any fugitive before the court, regardless of the country in which they are located.

Amit Shah stressed India’s zero-tolerance stance against corruption, crime, and terrorism. He further stated that even criminals sitting outside India’s borders must be held accountable, brought within the ambit of the law, and a robust mechanism must be established to ensure this.
