New Delhi, Oct 21: Every year on October 21, Police Commemoration Day is observed to honour the sacrifices of brave police personnel and soldiers. On this occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the martyrs at the National Police Memorial.

He stated that it was a great honour for him to have the opportunity to offer floral tributes to the immortal soldiers. Shah emphasized that these brave individuals secure the nation’s borders, enduring extreme temperatures from -50 to +50 degrees Celsius. He also expressed his respectful salute to the families of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Shah pays homage to brave soldiers of Azad Hind Fauj

Before arriving at the National Police Memorial, the Home Minister shared a post on X, paying tribute to the martyrs on Police Commemoration Day. In his post, he wrote that on this day in 1943, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, as the Commander of the Azad Hind Fauj, declared the formation of India’s first independent government and celebrated it as Independence Day. He described this historic move as the final nail in the coffin of British rule.

He further mentioned that with the powerful call of “Delhi Chalo” (March to Delhi), the brave soldiers of the Azad Hind Fauj, who pledged to free Mother India, became an inspiration for the youth across the country to unite and overthrow British rule. He paid homage to all the brave soldiers of the Azad Hind Fauj on its foundation day.

Notably, on October 21, 1943, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose established the provisional government of India in Singapore, with all key positions under his leadership.
