Ranchi, July 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is now expected to arrive in Ranchi at 10 PM tonight, a delay from the previously scheduled arrival time of 6 PM. He will chair the Eastern Zonal Council meeting on July 10, which will be held at Hotel Radisson Blu in Ranchi.

The high-level meeting will see participation from the Chief Ministers of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal, along with top officials from these states and the central government.

Key Issues on the Agenda

The Eastern Zonal Council meeting is expected to focus on several critical regional matters, including:

  • Strengthening internal security and border coordination
  • Development of infrastructure in eastern states
  • Improving inter-state transport and connectivity
  • Water-sharing disputes and flood control strategies
  • Cooperative action on Left Wing Extremism (LWE)
  • Coordination in health and education sectors

Officials from Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Delhi began arriving in Ranchi from 8 AM today. Odisha Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Shashwat Mishra and Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena have already reached the city. A team from West Bengal is expected to arrive after 8 PM. Central government officials are also arriving throughout the day.

Traffic Plan Revised for VIP Movement

Given the VVIP movement and enhanced security arrangements, Ranchi police have issued a detailed traffic plan for July 10, the day of the Eastern Zonal Council meeting. Significant restrictions will be in place to ensure smooth movement of the convoys and security personnel.

  4. The stretch from Big Bazaar Chowk to Kadru Bridge (up to Neeche Chowk) will be closed to all vehicles except those involved in the event.
  5. Due to limited parking at Hotel Radisson Blu, senior officials’ vehicles will be parked behind the hotel.
  6. District-level officials (excluding senior ones) must park at the Ranchi Water Resources Complex or Ranchi Club Parking Area.
  7. Senior district officials are instructed to use Firayalal Ground for parking.
