Jamshedpur, Feb 8: It was a mesmerizing evening of musical theatrical performance that combined singing, acting and dance. The performers were students  (both boys and girls ) of La Vie en Rose, a Circuit House-based music studio.

The two-hour-long event titled “An Evening of Musical Theatre” was organised at the Russi Mody Centre for Excellence and was inaugurated by Varun Gazder, owner of Cafe Regal which promotes young talents by conducting music and other creative sessions in regular intervals.

The students mesmerised the audience with their theatrical performances. Some sang Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, an enchanting musical theatre with backstage music and lyrics while others performed from the famous Walt Disney animated film -Frozen and Pinocchio-  a musical theatre adaptation of the classic children’s story by Carlo Collodi ( a reimagined version of the classic story that’s fun for all ages).

Students also presented Rapunzel, a theatre work of USA, Alladin- a stage musical theatre based on Walt Disney Animation Studios and Into The Woods, one of the hit 1986 music theatre.

Ever since its inception some five years ago, La Vie en Rose ( French- literally meaning  Life in Pink ) has been promoting Western classical ( opera) and musical theatre ( Broadway).

Opera is a play in which the actors (opera singers) sing the words to music; works of this kind are performed as entertainment.

Broadway music is a genre of music associated with American musical theatre. It’s known for its catchy melodies and often includes elements of jazz, blues, and gospel music.

“Musical theatres tell stories that can evoke a range of emotions, such as love, humour, anger, and sadness. I got an opportunity to see such a great musical theatre performance by the students of La Vie en Rose. It’s the first of its kind in Steel City, ” commented an audience.

Music studio La Vie en rose is run by a couple Ashwin Sahay and his wife Camille, who hails from France. The couple groom students on Western classical (Opera) and musical theatrics. The music studio also provides scholarship facilities to talented artists.

Ashwin Sahay was in all praise for the student performers. “We will continue to hold such shows in future in order to make opera and Broadway popular here,” said Sahay.
