In a significant step towards reinforcing inter-agency cooperation, the Indian Army and Jharkhand Police came together for a high-level at the Punjab Regimental Centre in Ramgarh Cantonment on Saturday. The event aimed to deepen mutual understanding, streamline operational collaboration, and foster respect between the two key pillars of national security.
Senior Leadership in Attendance
The conclave was jointly led by Major General Vikas Bhardwaj, VSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Jharkhand & Bihar Sub Area, and Anurag Gupta, IPS, Director General of Police (DGP), Jharkhand. Senior officials from both the Army and the State Police were present, highlighting the importance accorded to this initiative.
Enhancing Operational Synergy
During the interaction, Major General Bhardwaj underscored the growing need for integrated approaches to national security. He stressed that evolving security dynamics call for robust operational linkages and a culture of shared learning between the armed forces and civil police.
“Regular interaction, joint training modules, and knowledge exchange are key to building institutional synergy,” he said, affirming the Army’s commitment to fostering closer ties with state agencies.
Sensitivity Towards Armed Forces Personnel
In a particularly noteworthy segment, DGP Anurag Gupta addressed the sensitive issue of dealing with serving and retired armed forces personnel. He emphasised that the Jharkhand Police holds the highest respect for their selfless service.
“Any deviation in handling such cases is deeply regretted, and strict action is taken against erring officials,” Gupta stated. He proposed joint training capsules and short-term attachments with Army establishments to sensitise police personnel and improve engagement.

Collaboration in Cantonment Management
Discussions also touched upon law and order issues and traffic management in and around cantonments and military stations. Both sides agreed on the need to adopt best practices to enhance efficiency and mutual cooperation in these areas.

The conclave concluded on a strong note of mutual respect and commitment. Both the Indian Army and Jharkhand Police reaffirmed their resolve to institutionalise regular interactions, expand shared training opportunities, and build a seamless, respectful interface between the military and police forces.
