Ranchi, February 5: Ranchi Judicial Commissioner Arun Kumar Rai took oath as a Judge of the Jharkhand High Court. Acting Chief Justice S Chandrashekhar administered his oath of office at a function held at the Jharkhand High Court.
The high court collegium had recommended his elevation on September 13 last year.
Rai joined the judicial service on May 5 2012 and served as a judicial officer in various capacities in the State of Jharkhand. Before joining the service, he practised at the Bar for more than 15 years in Delhi at the trial courts and the High Court on the criminal and civil sides.
The Judgment Evaluation Committee, constituted by the Chief Justice of the the High Court has rated the quality of judgments authored by Rai as “Good”.
Throughout his career, he has consistently been rated as a “Very Good” officer in his ACRs.
“The inputs the Department of Justice provided in the file indicate that he enjoys a good personal and professional image and that nothing adverse came to notice against his integrity,” the collegium said.
