Assam Police nab two with 480 kg of Burmese supari in Hailakandi seizure

Hailakandi, Nov 10: In Hailakandi district on Friday, Assam Police confiscated a significant amount of Burmese supari (areca nut) and arrested two individuals.

The police team of the Lakhinagar police outpost and the Lala police station of the Hailakandi district launched a search operation at the home of Saydul Islam Barbhuiya, 28, on Friday at Pachim Kitterbond Part 1 area, based on information from sources.

A police officer from the Hailakandi district stated, “During the search, the police team recovered and seized 12 sacks of illegal Burmese supari weighing approximately 480 kg, along with a vehicle”.

Police also arrested two individuals identified as Abul Kalam (48) from Karimganj district and Saydul Islam Barbhuiya (28).
