Ranchi, January 21: The Jharkhand government on Sunday declared a public holiday in the state on January 22 on the occasion of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.
“It is hereby notified that the half day of 22nd January till 2.30 pm shall be observed as a public holiday in all offices, establishments and public sector banks in the State under the NI Act to enable its employees on the occasion of Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya,” a notification from the state government said. A full day holiday has been declared in all government schools on January 22.
With this, Jharkhand has become the second non-BJP ruled state to declare a holiday on January 22. Earlier, the Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh too declared a holiday on January 22.
So far, 14 BJP-ruled states have declared a holiday on the occasion of Ram temple consecration.
The BJP leaders, including Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth have been demanding the Jharkhand government to declare a holiday on January 22.
Earlier, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said he would definitely go to Ayodhya if got an invitation. However, Soren is yet to get any invitation.
