Dhanbad, Nov 30: The Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad Teachers Association’s election will be held on December 20.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the seven-member election committee and representatives of  10 constituent colleges,  newly set up Model Colleges and postgraduate (PG) departments held on the university campus in the late afternoon.

This time, polling would be held in Dhanbad. Three booths would be set up on the university campus. In the first election held in 2018 booths were set up in both Bokaro and Dhanbad districts. “Holding the election at one place would help in declaring the result on the same day,” said Dr Singh.

A total of 173 regular teachers of the university would cast their votes in the election.

The coordinator said the election would be held for 13 posts, including one president, five vice presidents, one general secretary, five joint secretaries and one treasurer.

Election committee chief Prof (rtd) SKL Das presided over the meeting. Deputy chief election officers, Dr SK Sinha, Dr RS Yadav, Dr OP Sinha, election officer Dr Mangaswary, Dr DN Singh, coordinator Dr KM Singh, outgoing committee general secretary Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary, Dr BN Singh, PG Teachers’ Association president Dr Bhagwan Pathak, general secretary Dr DK Singh and others were present.

At the meeting, teachers’ representatives of colleges and postgraduate departments gave several suggestions on different issues, especially deciding the election date,  the number of candidates for the post and others.

All decisions were taken unanimously at the meeting.  BBMKU became a separate university in 2017 and the first election was held in 2018. In the first election, teachers of the university were in divided houses but this time all are on a single boat in the interest of teachers.
