Dhanbad, Dec 4: No candidate filed a nomination for any post on the first day of nomination in the Binod Bihari Mahto  Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad Teachers Association poll which started today.

Chief of the election committee Prof (retired) SKL Das along with other members reached the university campus on time to receive the nomination papers of the candidate but no one turned up on the first day.

The coordinator of the election committee, Dr KM Singh, said that as per schedule the nomination paper will be filed between 11 am to 3 pm at the university campus based election office from December 4 to 7.

“Nomination paper and voters list habe been loaded on Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University Teachers Association website. The interested candidate can upload the paper from it”, said Dr KM Singh.

Election on Dec 20

The election of BBMKUTA will be held on December 20 for 13 posts including president, vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary and treasurer. A total of 173 regular teachers of 10 Dhanbad–Bokaro based constituent colleges, three Model Colleges and post graduate (PG) department would select the candidates.

Election committee chief Prof (retired) SKL Das said that as per the poll programme election committee members (he along with deputy chief election officers Dr RS Yadav and Dr SK Sinha) sat till 3 pm for candidates to file nominations. But no one turned up during the scheduled time.

So far only two candidates Dr DK Singh and Dr Amulya Suman Beik (university political science department) have announced to contest for the post of president and general secretary respectively. However, they did not file their nominations.

Suspense continues on outgoing general secretary

While the nomination process started today, the suspense still continued on outgoing committee general secretary Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary and Dr BN Singh. Besides them, Dr RK Tiwary (president of BBMKUTA outgoing committee) and Dr Bhagwan Pathak (president of PG Teachers Association) have also not disclosed over contesting.

Both are considered stalwart teachers of the organization and have massive influence among teachers in the university. But both of them have not opened their card whether they would contest this election or not.

However, the pressure is pouring on from teachers of different colleges on them to contest the election. A constituent college faculty member said that if  Dr Choudhary and Dr Singh can mend their fence in the interest of teachers, they must contest the election for the benefit of the organization as well as teachers.
