Best State Award for Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society, again

Dr Bharti Kashyap, Scientific Committee and managing committee member, Dr Birendra Prasad Kashyap, managing committee member, Dr S K Mitra, secretary, receiving the Best State Society Award from Swami Nityakamananda Maharaj, secretary, Ramakrishna Seva Pratisthan, Kolkata and Dr. Harbans Lal, President, AIOS during the inaugural session of the 82 annual AIOS conference held at Kolkata on March 14.

Ranchi, March 23: Creating history, the Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society (JHOS) has bagged the Best State Society National Award for the second year in succession for its outstanding contributions in continuing medical education and social awareness campaigns throughout the rural areas of Jharkhand.

The Award bestowed by the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) was given away by Swami Nityakamananda Maharaj, secretary, Ramakrishna Seva Pratisthan, Kolkata, Dr.Harbans Lal, President, AIOS, and  Dr. Udai Devgan, an eminent ophthalmologist from the USA, at the inaugural function of the 82nd annual AIOS conference held at Kolkata on March 14.

Dr Bharti Kashyap, chairperson of the Scientific Committee and managing committee member; Dr Birendra Prasad Kashyap, managing committee member; Dr S.K. Mitra, secretary of JHOS; and Dr Raj Mohan, president of JHOS, received the Award.

Contributions to physical and virtual postgraduate teaching

In 2023, the Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society won the All-India Ophthalmological Society Best State Society award for its contributions to physical and virtual postgraduate teaching, CMEs, social campaigns, and a membership drive across Jharkhand.

Better eye care facilities for people of Jharkhand

“This Best State Society Award, for the second year in succession, validates our continued efforts to ensure better eye care facilities for the people of Jharkhand. Across the state, JHOS has continued to organise eye donation, glaucoma, cataract, and diabetic retinopathy camps cum awareness campaigns in the districts of Santhal Parganas, north and south Chotanagpur and Kolhan regions,” Dr Bharti Kashyap, chairperson Scientific Committee and managing committee member, revealed.

In addition, JHOS has also organised scientific seminars in various cities and towns across Jharkhand, enlightening eye care specialists of latest state of art technology.

Under the banner of the Jharkhand Ophthalmological Society, wet lab training for surgical expertise of postgraduate students was also organised at Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, Central Coalfields Ltd hospital, Ranchi, and Bokaro General Hospital for postgraduate medical students, Dr Bharti Kashyap added.
