THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Patna, June 28: Bihar is set to introduce a comprehensive solar energy and pump power storage policy within the next 15 days. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary made the announcement while addressing a Renewable Energy Expo held at the Planetarium in Patna on Wednesday. The event brought together stakeholders from across the energy sector, including government officials and private players

Focus on Public-Private Partnerships in Clean Energy

The upcoming policy is expected to encourage investment and participation from both Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and private enterprises. Choudhary stated that the policy framework has been designed to strengthen the solar infrastructure in the state while also incorporating energy storage solutions through pump-based systems.

“The policy will invite collaboration from PSUs and the private sector, creating a robust ecosystem for solar power development,” he said.

Infrastructure Upgrade for Sustainable Power Supply

The Deputy CM highlighted that the introduction of pump storage in the energy chain will allow for surplus solar power to be stored and used during non-productive hours, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply. This move is part of the government’s broader aim to improve energy reliability and reduce dependency on non-renewable sources.

Interaction with Industry and Technology Showcases

Choudhary also visited several stalls at the expo, interacting with representatives from renewable energy companies and technology providers. The exhibition featured cutting-edge solar technologies and energy-efficient innovations, underscoring Bihar’s commitment to promoting clean energy through knowledge exchange and industry engagement.

Policy to Provide Investment Clarity and Incentives

Officials present at the expo indicated that the forthcoming policy will lay out clear incentives for developers and energy investors. It will also offer a structured roadmap for integrating solar generation with pump storage, helping Bihar scale its renewable energy output and meet its climate targets.
