Mumbai, Dec 9: Rahul Narwekar of the Bharatiya Janata Party was elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly on Monday.
Narwekar, an MLA from the Colaba constituency, is assuming the role of Speaker for a second consecutive term.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took the lead in initiating the Speaker’s election process in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar subsequently advanced the nomination for the Speaker’s position. Chandrakant Patil further strengthened the proposal by expressing his support for the nomination, reflecting a united stance.
Following the approval of the nomination, Rahul Narwekar became the Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
