Kaiserganj, May 2: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday announced Karan Bhushan Singh, the son of former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chairman Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, as its candidate from the Kaiserganj constituency in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections.
Brij Bhushan Singh, a three-time MP from the Kaiserganj seat, is the current BJP representative in that seat. This time around, though, he has not received a ticket.
The BJP’s decision-making regarding the Kaiserganj seat was complicated by allegations of sexual harassment against sitting MP Brij Bhushan Singh. These allegations triggered significant protests from various wrestlers, such as Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, and Vinesh Phogat.

Dinesh Pratap Singh nominated from Rae Bareli
The BJP has also declared Dinesh Pratap Singh as its candidate from the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency.
The BJP has expressed confidence in Singh, who ran against Sonia Gandhi in the same seat in the 2019 elections.
The Rae Bareli seat has traditionally been a stronghold of the Gandhi family. In the 2019 elections, former Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi successfully retained the seat. However, as she has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan, she will not be contesting this time.
