Mumbai, June 7: Following the makers’ agreement on Friday to remove two dialogues from the film, the Bombay High Court has approved the theatrical release of the movie ‘Hamare Baarah.’

Following the court’s clearance, ‘Hamare Baarah’ will open in theatres today, June 7.

Previously, the court was notified that a review committee consisting of three individuals couldn’t come to a decision and asked for an extension to finalize their report.

The court expressed dissatisfaction, remarking that it was unacceptable for the committee to fail in meeting the obligation assigned by the court, particularly as outlined in its prior order.

Subsequently, senior advocate Rahul Narichania, representing the filmmakers, consented to removing the two dialogues contested by the petitioners to prevent any further delays.

What’s the movie ‘Hamare Baarah’ about?

The film revolves around Manzoor Ali Khan Sanjari, who persists in having children with his second wife despite the tragic loss of his first wife during childbirth. Now expecting her sixth child, his second wife faces life-threatening risks, but Khan adamantly rejects the idea of abortion.

In a desperate attempt to save her stepmother, Khan’s daughter Alfiya takes legal action to compel an abortion. The movie explores Alfiya’s struggle to sway her father and the court, while also shedding light on the deeply ingrained patriarchy within their society.

The movie features Annu Kapoor, Manoj Joshi, and Paritosh Tripathi in lead roles.

‘Hamare Baarah’ is a film directed by Kamal Chandra and co-produced by Birender Bhagat, Ravi S Gupta, Sanjay Nagpal, and Sheo Balak Singh.

‘Hamare Baarah’ banned in Karnataka

The Karnataka government has imposed a ban on the release or broadcast of the film ‘Hamare Baarah’ in the state for a period of two weeks or until further notice.

After reviewing the trailer and considering requests from various minority organizations and delegations, the Karnataka government claimed that the release of ‘Hamare Baarah’ would incite communal tension in the state. Consequently, they made the decision to prevent its release.
