The central government has notified the appointment of Justice BR Sarangi as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has shared this information on social media platform X. Along with this, he has also informed that Acting Chief Justice S Chandrashekhar of the Jharkhand High Court has been transferred to Rajasthan High Court.
Significantly, the Centre’s notification comes almost 6 months after the Supreme Court Collegium proposed Justice Sarangi’s elevation. He is now set to retire in less than a month on July 20. He is currently the senior most Judge of the Orissa High Court and will fill the post of CJ which has been lying vacant since December 28, 2023.
