Daltonganj, August 17: Police in Latehar district have arrested seven members of the Rahul Dubey gang in a major crackdown. All seven were sent to judicial custody on Saturday.
Nearly Two Dozen Arrested So Far
With these fresh arrests, the total number of gang members in custody has reached close to two dozen. Police sources said that at this pace, Rahul Dubey—an emerging gangster—may soon be left with very few men to command.
Weapons and Petrol Seized
Police recovered two pistols, nine cartridges, and five mobile phones during the operation. A surprising seizure was also made—two litres of petrol. Investigators said the gang kept petrol ready to set vehicles and other property on fire in order to spread fear and extort money.

Trail of Arson in Coal Belt
The Dubey gang had unleashed terror in July with a series of arson attacks in the coal belt, targeting sites under Bariyatu, Chandwa, and Balumath police stations. All three incidents took place at coal sidings.
The gang is notorious for burning Hiwa heavy loaders, which have become their frequent target in extortion-related violence.
SP’s Warning to the Gang
Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav has warned the gang against further violence, saying police are closing in on Rahul Dubey himself. With more arrests and seizures of weapons, the gang is steadily losing both manpower and firepower.
However, police sources also cautioned that the gang may resort to fresh arson attempts in desperation.
