Patna, Oct 6: The Election Commission has announced a bypoll for Jharkhand’s Ghatshila Assembly constituency, to be held alongside the Bihar Assembly elections.

Voting will take place on November 11, while counting of votes will be held on November 14.

The Ghatshila seat fell vacant following the demise of Education Minister Ramdas Soren.

According to the Election Commission, the notification for the bypoll will be issued on October 13. Candidates can file nominations until October 20, the scrutiny of papers will be conducted by October 22, and withdrawal of nominations will be allowed until October 24.

The Ghatshila constituency now has 2,55,820 registered voters, including 1,24,899 men, 1,30,921 women, and three third-gender voters.

During the recent voter list revision, 5,253 people applied to have their names added to the list. Of these, 5,171 applications were approved, and the names were included.

Meanwhile, 715 names were deleted after the individuals themselves requested removal from the electoral roll.
