Daltonganj, Nov 28: The DG (Director General) of health services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr Atul Goel, has asked the MD (Mission Director) of the NHM (National Health Mission) of all the states, including Jharkhand and Union Territories to be alert for the surge of respiratory infection and illness among the children in China and to go for better management of public health and hospital preparedness.

Goel’s letter is dated November 25.
Concern over respiratory illness in China
The outbreak of respiratory infection and illness among children in China has been of vast enormity.
The DG has asked not to be alarmed or in any panic mode but to be fully prepared to take on any situation here in India.

100-bed building ready in MMCH: Palamu DC
Palamu DC Shashi Ranjan told this correspondent, “We have 100-bed building ready in the premise of the MMCH Daltonganj. I will see it is only a child-mother care centre. It will help mothers and their children more.”

As this 100-bed building was hastily inaugurated by Chief Minister Hemant Soren about one and half years ago when in fact this building was under construction but now it is ready and so it will be ‘dedicated’ to people.
DC Shashi Ranjan said he would explore the date of its dedication as on November 30 when Chief Minister Hemant Soren is due to arrive in Garhwa district. He is to spend the night of November 30/ December 1 here in Daltonganj.

DG seeks reporting of ILI, SARI
The outbreak of respiratory infection and illness in China is triggering influenza, mycoplasma pneumonia, and SARS-CoV 2.
The DG of Health Services has asked for reporting of ILI (influenza-like illness) and SARI (severe acute respiratory infection) to IDSP – IHIP for continuous monitoring and evaluation.
Human resources, beds, testing, infection control practices, medicines etc are to be put in place read the letter of the DG of Health Services.

NHM MD braces for oxygen facilities
The MD NHM Jharkhand, Alok Trivedi, has taken the lid off the medical oxygen facilities across the state.
According to Trivedi, “400 facilities from all districts across the state are registered in the Oxygen Demand Aggregation System (ODAS) but only 257 facilities are active on the ODAS portal.”
Under the directive of MD NHM, the fifth mock drill of the PSA plants in Palamu has been done. PSA plant gives medical oxygen.
