PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Dec 27: In a proud moment for Jharkhand, Chowka Police Station in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district has secured fourth rank at the national level and emerged as the best-performing police station in the state in the Ranking of Police Stations–2025, released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

National Recognition at DGsP/IGsP Conference

The prestigious annual ranking is conducted by the MHA to evaluate police stations across the country based on multiple qualitative and quantitative parameters. The top ten police stations nationwide are identified through a rigorous assessment process, and the results are formally announced during the annual DGsP/IGsP Conference.

The latest rankings were declared at the recently concluded conference held in Raipur.

For the 2025 assessment, an independent agency carried out detailed ground-level inspections of police stations across India. The evaluation covered a wide range of parameters, including analysis of the CCTNS database, crime statistics, handling of crimes against women and vulnerable sections, efficiency in case disposal and charge-sheeting, police station infrastructure and cleanliness, availability of IT and forensic facilities, digital record maintenance, communication systems, citizen feedback, proactive policing initiatives, and the conduct and behaviour of police personnel towards the public.

Independent Assessment Across 18,000+ Police Stations

Out of more than 18,000 police stations across the country, Chowka Police Station’s impressive fourth-place finish reflects its high standards of discipline, professionalism, and citizen-centric policing, guided by its core motto, “Service is the Goal.”

SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat Hails Team Effort and Public Cooperation

Superintendent of Police, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, congratulated the then Station House Officer Bajrang Mahto and all officers and personnel of Chowka Police Station for the remarkable achievement. He described the recognition as a matter of pride not only for the district but for the entire state.

The SP said the honour was the result of consistent dedication, teamwork, and exemplary service by the district police force. He added that the achievement highlights the growing efficiency and credibility of the Jharkhand Police at the national level.

Reaffirming the department’s commitment to public service, he assured that the police would continue to work with renewed dedication, keeping citizens at the centre of policing. He also thanked the public for their cooperation and promised more responsive and people-friendly policing in the future.
