Jamshedpur, August 28: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today organized here the CII Jharkhand Green Conclave with the theme of ‘Creating Future Ready Green Ecosystem’.
Eminent leaders from various sectors deliberated on emerging green technologies and their potential to drive sustainability.
With a focus on competitiveness, inclusiveness, and environmental stewardship, the conclave aimed to chart a course for a greener, more resilient future.
“As a nation, we have to become Net Zero”: Ranjot singh
Ranjot Singh, chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Managing Director, Emdet Jamshedpur Private Limited inaugurated the session with his welcome address.
He delved into the critical importance of green and sustainable practices in today’s world and also highlighted the urgency of collective action, stating, “Green and sustainability is a very serious subject. We all must get together. What to do can be found, and when to do it is now, but how to do it is the challenge we must overcome together. As a nation, we have to become Net Zero.”

ESG- three pillars of sustainability
Amit Ranjan Chakraborty, Convenor, CII Jharkhand Sustainability, Environment Energy Panel & Chief Environment, Tata Steel Ltd said “This is the time when we want to create the kind of awareness, a sensitiveness towards this particular important subject called sustainability. He also stated about the three important pillars of sustainability i. e Environment, Social & Governance (ESG).
Collective commitment to sustainability at both corporate and individual levels
Ritu Raj Sinha, Vice Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Managing Director, Tata Steel UISL emphasized the importance of collective commitment to sustainability at both corporate and individual levels and said that sustainability must be at the core of every action undertaken by businesses and individuals alike.
He also stated, “Developing a commitment is required, a commitment not only by the corporates but also by the individuals.” He further elaborated on the interconnectedness of industries, towns, and individuals in the journey toward sustainability.
He remarked, “The smallest fraction also contributes to the bigger cost, and an industry perspective cannot be seen in isolation. There are towns around the industries, and there are individuals. Individuals play a bigger role in the entire ecosystem. Everything that we do has an impact. Everyone is integrated – the industries, the towns, and the individuals.”
Mr N Muthusezhiyan, Deputy Executive Director, CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre emphasized the need to view “green” not merely as an action, but as a crucial compliance for businesses in today’s world.

ESG integration crucial for MSMEs
Rohit Goyal, co-convenor, CII Jharkhand MSME Panel and Managing Director, IEMCO Industries Ltd said, “In the global arena, ESG integration is crucial for MSMEs, enhancing their competitive edge by fostering sustainability, resilience, and ethical practices. The journey to net zero emissions is both ambitious and essential. The Green Conclave aspires to inspire industries to lead by example in creating a future-ready green ecosystem.”
The conclave, organised at the Centre for Excellence, focused on innovative strategies and practices that can be adopted to achieve net zero, reduce waste, and create a sustainable ecosystem for the future under the theme “Creating Future Ready Green Ecosystem”.
