New Delhi, July 9: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday met Simon Wong Wie Kuen, Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, on the sidelines of the National Stakeholders’ Consultation 2026 and discussed investment opportunities, industrial development and economic cooperation in the State.
According to an official statement, the discussions focused on Jharkhand’s investment climate, emerging industrial sectors, the digital economy, infrastructure development and opportunities for future collaboration.
During the meeting, Soren highlighted Jharkhand’s natural resources, skilled workforce and industrial potential, and invited Singaporean companies to invest in the State.
The two sides also discussed strengthening economic cooperation, promoting technology exchange and building long-term partnerships to support industrial growth and innovation.
Business-to-Government meeting
The Chief Minister also participated in a Business-to-Government (B2G) meeting on the second day of the National Stakeholders’ Consultation 2026, where government representatives and industry leaders discussed investment prospects and policy support for industrial development in Jharkhand.
According to the government, the meeting was aimed at fostering dialogue between investors, industry and the State government to facilitate investment and strengthen the industrial ecosystem.
JSPL proposes ₹71,000-crore investment
During the consultation, Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) Vice-Chairman V.R. Sharma announced a proposal to invest ₹71,000 crore in Jharkhand. The proposed investment is expected to support the State’s industrial expansion, subject to the necessary approvals and implementation processes.
