Ranchi, June 25: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday urged newly inducted police personnel to uphold the rule of law and serve the people with dedication, saying they were no longer serving themselves but had taken on the responsibility of protecting the citizens of Jharkhand.
Addressing the Basic Trainees’ Passing-Out Parade Ceremony-2026 at the JAP-1 Ground, Doranda, the Chief Minister inspected the parade and presented awards to outstanding trainees.
340 personnel complete training
A total of 340 personnel—including four Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and 336 constables (255 men and 81 women)—completed their basic training and participated in the passing-out parade.
The newly trained personnel displayed their skills through a march-past and synchronised drill before taking an oath to uphold the Constitution, maintain the dignity of the police force, and serve the nation and the state with discipline and dedication.
Women’s participation a matter of pride
Soren said the inclusion of 81 women constables, accounting for nearly 25 per cent of the batch, reflected the government’s commitment to ensuring greater participation of women in the police force.
“We want equal participation of men and women in every sector of the state, and this is clearly visible here,” he said.
‘You are now dedicated to protecting citizens’
The Chief Minister said the oath taken by the recruits was more than a ceremonial exercise and represented a lifelong commitment to public service.
“From today, you are no longer working only for yourselves. You are dedicated to protecting the ordinary citizens of the state. You may face difficult situations, even threats to your lives, but your duty is to uphold the law and serve society,” he said.
He urged the recruits to apply the skills acquired during their 30-week training in maintaining law and order and tackling emerging challenges.
Government promises better facilities
Soren reiterated that the state government would continue strengthening the police department and announced plans to establish modern residential schools for police personnel’s families and expand dedicated healthcare facilities for the force.
He also congratulated the Police Department for successfully conducting the training programme and extended his best wishes to the newly appointed DSPs and constables.
Director General and Inspector General of Police Tadasha Mishra, Additional Director General of Police Priya Dubey, and other senior police officers attended the ceremony.
