Kolkata, Oct 2: Coal India Limited (CIL), under the Ministry of Coal, has launched Special Campaign 5.0 to coincide with Gandhi Jayanti, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision for clean, clutter-free and citizen-centric governance.

The campaign will run in two phases — a preparatory phase from 15 to 30 September 2025, followed by the implementation phase from 2 to 31 October 2025.

At the launch event held at CIL’s Corporate Office in Kolkata, Chairman PM Prasad highlighted the campaign’s focus areas, including cleanliness across all sites, reducing file pendency, disposal of scrap, digitisation, e-waste management, and other citizen-oriented activities.

Directors Mukesh Choudhary (Marketing), Mukesh Agarwal (Finance), Asheesh Kumar (Business Development) and BK Tripathy were also present at the event.

As part of the initiative, CIL has already organised activities such as Shramdaan (Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath), a mass Swachhata pledge ceremony, street plays, installation of e-kiosks for e-waste collection, blood donation camps, cleanliness drives in public areas, and other eco-friendly initiatives. These were carried out under the “Swachhta Hi Seva” campaign, a 15-day programme aimed at improving sanitation habits and keeping surroundings clean.

CIL stated that these initiatives are designed to improve operational efficiency while contributing to a sustainable, eco-friendly and citizen-responsive environment, in line with the Government of India’s vision of a Swachh Bharat.
