Ranchi, Feb 11: Coal India Limited (CIL), under the aegis of the Ministry of Coal (MoC), has been honoured with the Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility for its outstanding CSR initiatives.

Award Ceremony and Organizers

The award was presented by the Institute of Directors (IOD) during the two-day 19th International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility held at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by IOD, recognize companies for their exemplary CSR projects across the country.

CIL Leadership Receives the Award

The prestigious Golden Peacock Award Trophy and Certificate were presented to:

  • P.M. Prasad, Chairman, CIL
  • Dr. Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR)
  • Nitish Pareek and Sachin B (CSR team members)

The award was received during the Golden Peacock Awards Presentation Ceremony on February 6–7 at Hotel Taj Lands End. The event was graced by distinguished business and industry leaders.

Expressing his gratitude, P.M. Prasad, Chairman, CIL, stated: “We at Coal India are honoured to receive the prestigious Golden Peacock CSR Award 2024, reaffirming our commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility. This recognition motivates us to continue making a positive impact on communities while driving responsible growth.”

Dr. Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR), CIL, added: “We are committed to inclusive and sustainable growth by implementing impactful CSR initiatives across India. Our projects focus on diverse areas that directly benefit the common public, aligning with the government’s vision.”

CIL’s Commitment to CSR and Sustainable Growth

Under the leadership of P.M. Prasad and Dr. Vinay Ranjan, along with guidance from senior MoC officials, including Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary (Coal), CIL and its subsidiaries have been actively implementing impactful CSR projects. O.P. Mishra, Executive Director (CD), CIL, and Renu Chaturvedi, GM (CSR), CIL, meticulously oversee and monitor these projects to ensure a lasting impact on society.

CSR Investments and Focus Areas

Over the past three years, CIL and its subsidiaries have spent ₹1,673 crore on CSR initiatives in healthcare, education, rural development, and other key areas. Notably:

  • 90% of the total CSR expenditure is allocated to coal-producing states.
  • 10% is invested in nationwide initiatives aimed at transforming the lives of the underprivileged.
