Ranchi, March 14: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has assigned Jharkhand Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh a key responsibility in the party’s campaign for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.

According to party sources, Deepika will help coordinate and lead campaign activities in Assam in support of Congress candidates, along with other senior leaders from Jharkhand.
Prior experience in Assam
Reacting to the development, Deepika said she had earlier worked closely with the Congress organisation in Assam. During the previous Assembly elections, she had served as a member of the party’s Screening Committee for the state.

She said she would carry out the responsibility assigned to her with commitment and a sense of duty.
Deepika Pandey Singh said the Congress aims to challenge the BJP government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the state and strengthen people-centric governance.
On alliance dynamics
On the question of political alliances, she noted that the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is part of both the Mahagathbandhan in Jharkhand and the INDIA bloc at the national level, and expressed hope that allies would work together during the Assam polls.
Remarks on Hemant Soren
The minister also described Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren as one of the prominent tribal leaders in the country. She said his political stance and leadership have earned him wide respect within the tribal community.
She added that his participation in the campaign, if it happens, could energise the party’s efforts in Assam.
