Ranchi, Jan 9: The Congress has consistently undermined the fundamental principles of the Constitution, according to Amar Kumar Bauri, former Leader of the Opposition and State Convenor of the Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan.

The campaign’s state and district team meeting was held today at the BJP State Office under Bauri’s chairmanship. District convenors and co-convenors from all organizational districts attended the meeting. Regional Organization General Secretary Nagendra Tripathi, State Organization General Secretary Karmveer Singh, and State Co-Convenors Rakesh Bhaskar, Nand Ji Prasad, and Amardeep Yadav were also present.

The meeting focused on planning upcoming events, programs, and seminars to be organized at the district and division levels. The Regional and State Organization General Secretaries provided guidance on the action plan.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Amar Kumar Bauri announced that the BJP would run the Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan across the country from January 11 to January 25. However, the campaign will be conducted from January 15 to January 25 in Jharkhand due to the ongoing party membership drive.

Attack on Congress

Criticizing the Congress Party, Bauri declared that it had lost all moral authority to speak about Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, also known as Baba Saheb.

He reminded the public that it was the Congress Party that once tried to defeat Baba Saheb in elections. The party’s history, he said, reflects its discriminatory stance toward Dalits.

Bauri accused the Congress of building grand memorials for its leaders while denying even two yards of land in Delhi for Baba Saheb’s memorial. Furthermore, he highlighted that the Congress failed to display Baba Saheb’s oil painting in Parliament.

He pointed out the contradiction in the Congress suddenly remembering Dr. Ambedkar today, despite its past neglect. Bauri noted that while Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi were awarded the Bharat Ratna while they were alive, and Rajiv Gandhi was also posthumously honoured, Baba Saheb was deprived of the same recognition. It was only under the BJP-supported V.P. Singh government that Dr. Ambedkar was finally awarded the Bharat Ratna.

Bauri accused the Congress of hypocrisy, saying that the party, which has amended the Constitution over 90 times to consolidate its power, now claims to uphold constitutional principles. He also criticized Congress for imposing the Emergency, calling it an act that strangled democracy.

On Article 370

Bauri further questioned the Congress’s stance on Article 370, which was implemented by Pandit Nehru despite Baba Saheb’s opposition. He said that Article 370 deprived Dalits, tribals, and backward communities in Jammu and Kashmir of the benefits of reservation for 70 years. He called it ironic that the Congress, which he described as “anti-tribal, anti-Dalit, and anti-backwards,” now claims to stand for their welfare.

BJP’s Efforts to Honour Baba Saheb

Under the Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan, Bauri said the BJP would inform the public in every district and division about how the Congress insulted Baba Saheb. The campaign would also highlight how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has worked to uphold Dr. Ambedkar’s ideas and policies.

He elaborated on the Modi government’s efforts to develop five key sites associated with Baba Saheb—his birthplace, place of nirvana, educational institutions, and the site of his initiation—into what is now known as the Panch Teerth.
