Daltonganj, Jan 9: A mysterious fire gutted one-third of the luxurious saloon car also called the inspection car in railway lingo at the Garhwa Road railway junction today.
There was no loss of life. The four railway personnel who look after the saloon car were out for lunch when the fire broke out inside. The four personnel were in the running room during the time of the outbreak of the fire.
The saloon car has six doors. Five of them were shut inside. One door was locked outside. The mysterious fire had broken out inside.

RPF inspector in-charge of Garhwa Road junction Banarasi Yadav told the Jharkhand Story correspondent, “I and my other RPF personnel were the first to discover this saloon car in smokes coming out from its closed doors.”

It was 1.35 pm when smoke was billowing off the saloon car. Three fire tenders contained the fire. It took a little over two hours to battle out the fire and the smoke. By 3.50 pm the saloon car was free of all residue of fire and smoke.
The glass panes of the saloon car were broken to enable firefighters to contain the fire.
RPF inspector in-charge Banarasi Yadav said one goods train was stationed on line number 1 close to the fire site. This goods train was moved ahead for the safety of the engine and wagons.
A short circuit is suspected to have caused the fire. The saloon car had an LPG cylinder which was found intact. Some faults in the electricity wiring could have caused the fire, it is believed. The railways have begun their investigation.
