Balasore, June 18: Following a confrontation between two groups, a curfew has been imposed in Balasore town, Odisha, as reported by the police on Tuesday.
In addition, the town’s district administration has shut off internet service in a few vulnerable regions and asked residents to stay inside their homes.

The police announced that the curfew was instituted starting at midnight on June 17 and would remain in effect until midnight on June 18.

Officials stated that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi spoke with Balasore Collector Ashish Thakare on Monday and instructed him to act quickly to stabilize the situation.

On Monday, a group of protesters sat on dharna in the town’s Bhujakhia Pir area, protesting the blood of animal sacrifice on the road. The altercation reportedly started after the other group threw stones at them, according to the police.
30 persons arrested
Sanjay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order), has stationed himself in the town. Police in Balasore conducted a flag march, and approximately 30 individuals have been arrested to date.
Balasore SP Sagarika Nath stated that a curfew has been imposed in the Balasore municipality area, with all businesses and shops instructed to remain closed.
A senior police officer mentioned that sufficient police presence has been deployed in sensitive areas, and although there were sporadic incidents of violence reported in some locations yesterday, the situation is gradually being brought under control.
