PINAKI MAJUMDAR
Jamshedpur, May 15: The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a weather advisory indicating significant atmospheric activity over parts of Jharkhand for the next few days, driven by a cyclonic trough influencing weather patterns across several states.

Weather Outlook: May 15 to May 18
May 15: A hot and humid day is expected in isolated areas across the eastern parts of the state. The heat may be interspersed with thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph in some locations.

May 16: Weather conditions are expected to intensify, with the likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning with stronger gusty winds peaking at 40–50 kmph. These events are expected to affect isolated places across the eastern region and possibly move inward.
May 17: Thunderstorm activity will continue and expand across the state, excluding the north-western regions. The maximum wind speed is expected to remain around 40–50 kmph, with scattered lightning incidents likely.

May 18: Similar weather patterns are forecast to persist, with widespread thunderstorm and lightning activity anticipated at isolated locations across the state, maintaining the gusty wind threshold of 40–50 kmph.

Meteorological Cause
The current weather activity is attributed to a trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over East Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, which now runs southwards across Jharkhand, Vidarbha, and Telangana, extending up to North Rayalaseema.
The trough exists at approximately 0.9 Km above mean sea level, contributing to the instability and convection over the region.

Precautionary Advisory
Residents in the affected areas are advised to:
* Avoid open fields during thunderstorms.
* Secure loose outdoor items that could be blown away by strong winds.
* Stay tuned to official weather updates.
* Exercise caution while commuting during stormy conditions.
