DAC approves defence procurement proposals worth ₹79,000 crore for armed forces

New Delhi, Dec 29: The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has cleared capital acquisition proposals worth around ₹79,000 crore, giving a major boost to the modernisation plans of the armed forces.

The Ministry of Defence said the approvals were granted during the DAC meeting held on December 29, 2025, covering key capability-enhancement projects for the Army, Navy and Air Force.

For the Indian Army, the Council cleared the procurement of advanced systems including loitering munitions for artillery units, low-level lightweight radars, long-range guided rocket ammunition for the Pinaka multiple launch rocket system, and the Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System Mk-II.

The Indian Navy received clearance for the acquisition of bollard pull tugs, high-frequency software-defined radio manpacks, and the leasing of high-altitude long-endurance remotely piloted aircraft systems.

For the Indian Air Force, the DAC approved proposals for systems such as automatic take-off and landing recording equipment, Astra Mk-II air-to-air missiles, full mission simulators and SPICE-1000 long-range guidance kits, among other platforms.

Officials said the decisions reflect the government’s focus on strengthening operational preparedness and enhancing surveillance, strike and training capabilities across all three services.
