New Delhi, May 31: The Delhi government has petitioned the Supreme Court seeking an order for Haryana to increase water supply to the nation’s capital, which is currently experiencing a crisis, sources stated on Friday.

According to sources, the AAP government in Delhi has informed the Supreme Court that the water demand in the city has surged notably due to the prevailing heatwave conditions. As a result, they are urging the court to direct Haryana to release additional water for a duration of one month.

The city government emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of all parties to collaborate in meeting Delhi’s water requirements.

On Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the BJP to request its administrations in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to supply water to the national capital for a period of one month.

Water Minister Atishi has pointed fingers at Haryana for the severe water shortage in the national capital, alleging that Haryana has failed to release Delhi’s rightful share of water.
