New Delhi, April 23: A petition challenging the order of Lokpal, which directed the CBI to investigate cases of income exceeding assets, was heard in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha filed the petition against the Lokpal’s order. Justice Subramanyam Prasad presided over the hearing in the court.
During the hearing, the court issued a notice to the complainant in one case, MP Nishikant Dubey, setting the next hearing for May 10.
On behalf of JMM, Supreme Court advocate on record Prajna Singh Baghel argued in the Delhi High Court.

During Tuesday’s hearing, the court did not impose any restraint on the CBI’s investigation.
Notably, on February 22, Lokpal had ordered the CBI to investigate allegations against Shibu Soren regarding assets exceeding income. Lokpal directed the CBI to complete the preliminary investigation into this matter within six months.
BJP’s Godda MP Dr. Nishikant Dubey had lodged a complaint with Lokpal in 2020. Dr. Nishikant Dubey, the BJP MP from Godda, had accused former CM of Jharkhand Shibu Soren and other members of his family of acquiring assets disproportionate to their income.
