New Delhi, July 5: In light of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bail plea in the corruption case the CBI filed in relation to the purported excise policy scam/ liquor scam, the Delhi High Court on Friday asked the CBI to provide a response.
Justice Neena Bansal Krishna served a notice to the CBI on the bail plea and set July 17 for the next hearing.
In court, senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, arguing on behalf of Kejriwal, asserted that Kejriwal is neither a flight risk nor a terrorist and denounced the CBI’s arrest as occurring only after his bail in the ED’s money laundering case.

The CBI’s lawyer, Advocate DP Singh, challenged Kejriwal’s decision to bring the bail plea directly to the High Court instead of initially filing it in the trial court.
On June 26, the CBI arrested the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener at Tihar Jail, where he is still being held in judicial custody for a money laundering case initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Following his arrest by the ED on March 21, Kejriwal was granted bail by the trial court on June 20, but the Delhi High Court stayed that bail order.
