Mumbai, March 4: Maharashtra government minister and NCP leader Dhananjay Munde has resigned from his post.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has accepted his resignation and forwarded it to the Governor. Munde’s personal assistant, Prashant Joshi, submitted the resignation to the Chief Minister at his official residence.
Santosh Deshmukh murder accused is close associate of Munde
Walmik Karad, the prime accused in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the Sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed district, is a close associate of Dhananjay Munde. Munde has openly referred to Karad as a close friend on several occasions.
Recently, several images related to the murder went viral on social media, leading to growing demands for Munde’s resignation as a minister.
Late at night, a meeting of senior NCP leaders was held at Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s residence, which Munde also attended. In the meeting, it was decided that Dhananjay Munde would step down from his ministerial post.
Munde accused of Rs 73.36 crore embezzelment
Dhananjay Munde’s political career has been marred by controversies. He is a key minister in the NCP and currently serves as the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies in the Maharashtra government. As the nephew of Gopinath Munde, he entered politics and defeated his aunt, Pankaja Munde.
Additionally, Munde has been accused of embezzling ₹73.36 crore in the agriculture department, a matter that a BJP MLA has raised with Ajit Pawar.
He has also faced allegations of domestic violence due to a dispute with Karuna Sharma. The Bandra Family Court ordered Munde to pay alimony to Karuna, a decision he has challenged.
