Dhanbad, Dec 19: The Dhanbad POCSO Court has awarded 25 years’ jail sentence to a coaching centre teacher accused of raping a minor and making the video of the crime viral.
The POCSO Court special judge, Prabhakar Singh, while delivering the judgement also slapped a penalty of Rs 12,000 on the accused teacher identified as Shahrukh Ali, a resident of Purana Bazar under the Bank More police station.
The court held the accused guilty on Saturday (December 16) and announced the quantum of punishment today. The trial has been completed in a record three months.
The FIR was lodged on July 6 by the father of the victim girl. The girl was studying in the coaching centre of the accused teacher who raped her and made a video of the crime to exploit her. On September 18, police filed a charge sheet in the court. A total of eight witnesses were cross-examined during the trial.
