Jamshedpur, Dec 19: An island garden near the Slag gate was inaugurated at Tata Steel Jamshedpur works by Probal Ghosh, Vice President, Shared Services and Rajiv Mangal, Vice President, Safety Health & Sustainability, in the presence of senior office-bearers of Tata Workers’ Union (TWU) and other officials today.

The area near the Slag gate has been very unsafe for traffic movement with dashing incidents and near misses due to the continuous movement of heavy vehicles through the Slag gate. Vehicles belonging to IBMD (Industrial By-product Management Division)  also regularly ply from slag dumping pits to Ram Mandir Yard (RAMY) and Slag Granulation Plant to the HSM (Hot Strip Mill) gate.

The roundabout also has been developed into a garden island of 250 sqm with different plant species. This job was executed by Engineering Services under the Spares and Services Division.

On the occasion V K Tripathi, Chief, Spares & Services Dipankar Dasgupta, Exectuive in Charge IBMD, Amit Ranjan Chakraborty, Chief Environment Management, Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, Chief, Operations IBMD Jsr & New Initiatives, Deputy President TWU Shailesh Kumar Singh, General Secretary TWU Satish Kumar Singh and other officials were present.
