Dhanbad, Dec 20: ‘Antragni’, a month-long popular annual festival of Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) MBBS students began today with a cricket tournament among different batches.

The cricket tournament is being organized in the name of the late Dr Goginder Singh, one of the founders of the institution and head of the surgery department. Besides cricket, painting, fashion show, singing, dance, Rangoli, drama and other arts and culture events are to be held during the month-long event.

On the occasion,  while addressing the MBBS students, Principal  Dr Jyoitiranjan Prasad advised them to play with sportsmen spirit and display their best sports talent.  “Victory and defeat in a match do not matter. The real thing that counts is your spirit, discipline and behaviour on the ground,” he said.

Last year, the principal had cancelled the cricket tournament after two teams allegedly clashed in the hostel over a match result dispute. But this year the organizers of the 2020 batch have made a foolproof arrangement to conduct all events smoothly.
