Ranchi, July 25: The Election Commission today published the draft voter list and threw it open for the public to check their names and point out if there is any discrepancy.
It was said to be a key preparatory exercise for the assembly election in Jharkhand due in November-December. However, it is speculated that the Jharkhand election may be clubbed with the Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, likely to be held in October.

Apart from him, all the special and common people including District Electoral Officers, and Superintendents of Police from across the state checked their names in the voter list.
‘Naam Checko’ campaign dominates social media
It was already widely publicized by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office that the draft voter list is to be published on Thursday. After publication, in the social media campaign ‘Naam Checko’ between 12.00 and 1:00 pm, a large number of people posted related posts on their social media platforms while checking their names. As a result, the “Naam Checko” hashtag campaign dominated social media throughout the day.
The format of the voter list was shown by BLOs at all the polling stations in the state. Voters matched their names in the list by going to the polling station.
The CEO appealed to the voters that those who could not come to the polling station on Thursday to check their names in the list can also check their names online. “If any kind of correction is required, then inform them in time because work is being done to improve the format,” he added.
He said that at the time of voting, no voter should be deprived of his right to vote so he must check his name in the voter list.
After checking his name in the voter list, the chief electoral officer also planted a tree in his polling station at BMP Madhya Vidyalaya Doranda campus.
